The Historic Tour takes you all the way from Paro to Bumthang in central Bhutan. In addition to sights in Paro, Punakha and Thimphu, you penetrate the heartland. In Trongsa, you visit the Trongsa Dzong, the most impressive in Bhutan. The first two kings of Bhutan ruled from here. The "Castle of the White Bird," Jakar Dzong, and the "Iron Castle," Chakhar Lhakhang, are highlights of Bumthang.
Day to day Itinerary
Day 01: Flight to Paro.
We can fly to Paro from Kathmandu, Delhi, Kolkatta and Bangkok. The flight rewards us with spectacular views of Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga and other famous Himalayan peaks, including the sacred Mount Chomolhari and Jichu Drake in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be met our representative and transferred to our hotel. After some rest, we will stroll in the township of Paro. Overnight hotel.

Day 02 Paro – Sightseeing and drive to Thimpu.
Morning, we drive 16 km away to see the ruins of historical Drugyal Dzong from where you can also see the peak of Mount Chomolhari on a clear weather day. On the way back, we will visit a typical Bhutanese farm house. After lunch in the hotel, we visit the National Museum (Ta-Dzong), located on the top of a hill above the Paro Dzong overlooking Paro valley and the river, Paro Rinchen Pong Dzong-the Administrative seat of the district of Paro. In the late afternoon, we drive to Thimphu (2 hrs), enjoying gorgeous scenic views at every turn. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 03 Thimphu Sightseeing.
In the morning, we visit the Memorial Chorten (a huge stupa) built in memory of the third King of Bhutan, the National Library where ancient manuscripts are preserved, the Painting School where traditional art is still kept alive through instructions in the art of painting Thankas (sacred Buddhist scrolls) and the Handicrafts Emporium where Bhutanese textiles and other arts and crafts are displayed and can be purchased.
After lunch in the hotel, we visit Simtokha Dzong- one of the oldest fortresses in Bhutan that houses the largest monastic schools in the country. We also visit the Tashichho Dzong - the main Secretariat Building, containing the Ministries and office of the King and Pangri Zampa Monastery-which was the residence of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel when he arrived in Bhutan in 1616 A.D. Evening reception by out tour operator with cultural entertainment.

After an early breakfast, drive to Punakha and Wangdue. Stop at Dochu La pass (3140m) and enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee with spectacular views of the Eastern Himalayan mountain ranges. Check in hotel in Wangdue and after lunch visit the sights such as Punakha Dzong-the district administration office and the winter residence of the State Monastic Body and its Chief Abbot, Wangduephodrang Dzong and its small town-perched on a hill between two rivers.

Day 05 Khotokha Excursion.
After an early breakfast, drive to Khotokha ( 22 km) where you will visit Drajanchu monastery-one of the most sacred and important Lhakhang of Tongdey Phajo's lineage. Khotokha is one of the most beautiful valleys in Bhutan and the view of the surrounding mountains and landscape is breathtaking. Picnic lunch at Khotokha and retrace drive to Thimpu.. Evening, we have leisurely time to browse the shops of Norzim Lam. On week-ends, its worth visiting the week-end market.
In option to the hike, we can take excursion to Cheli La (3810m) and enjoy the mountain views and drive further to Ha Valley to see the rural Bhutanese life. Overnight hotel in Paro.

Day 06 Drive to Paro.
After an early breakfast, drive back to Paro. If you want to try out something more active, Taktsang Monastery is the ideal destination. The monastery is perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer drop of nearly 900m and overlooks the Paro Valley and river. It is believed during the second half of the 8th century Guru Padma Sambhava known as the second Buddha in Bhutan, meditated at the spot where the monastery is situated having alighted there on the back of a flying tigress. The round trip hike takes about 4 hrs.In option to the hike, we can take excursion to Cheli La (3810m) and enjoy the mountain views and drive further to Ha Valley to see the rural Bhutanese life.
