Apa's expedition in avalanche

Eco Everest Expedition, led by legendary Everest summiteer Apa Sherpa, was hit by an avalanche on May 7, according to government officials. According to the Mountaineering Section under the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Lapka Nuru Sherpa (32) of Namche-4 Solukhumbu is missing. However, the foreign members of the expedition were rescued alive. The expedition was hit by an avalanche near the Khumbu Icefall (5,846m), considered by some mountaineers as the most difficult part of the 8,848 metre summit. Apa Sherpa (48) is attempting his 19th summit on Mt Everest, first scaled by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953.
