Jiri: An Experience to Remember…

Jiri may not be a known destination for hiking, but it is called the Switzerland of Nepal. The city looks blissful with its marveling treks and highlands that add up to the magnificence. It is a secret gateway to Everest. Here are the various steps and slopes that come along the way of this remarkable journey.

 

 

Jiri to Everest Base Camp

Jiri to Everest  Base Camp Trek is a more than 20-days strenuous trail. The trek leads travelers towards the highest peak in the world. After 8-hour bus tour from Kathmandu to Jiri, you’ll start to find your way amid the rocky, narrow pathways. As soon as you walk through, the alley passes by a picturesque village, mesmerizing river valley, and different landscapes. On the way also is the UNESCO heritage site Sagarmatha National Park.

When you move further, you’ll walk by the teahouses. If you wanna rest for a while, you can enjoy the views of Mt. Cho Oyu (8201 m), Mt. Lhotse (8516 m), Mt Makalu (8463 m) and Mt. Everest (8848 m). The Everest base camp and Kalapathar welcome many trekkers to bask in the Khumbu Glacier,  Pumori, and Ice Pinnacles. Besides, these small checkpoints make the trip more thrilling when the snow falls.

  • Dughla (4620m) to Lobuche (4933m)
  • Lobuche (4933m) to Gorak Shep (5140m)
  • Gorak Shep (5140m) to Kala Patthar (5626m)
  • Or, Gorak Shep (5140m) to EBC (5340m)

 

After finishing the trek to EBC if you want to explore the place further, there are plenty of destinations. For instance, Dzhongla, Gokyo, 5th Lake, Lukla and so forth.
