The Tibet Shoton Festival and Kailash Tour is a journey designed to quench your thirst for both a tour filled with culture, tradition and the Himalayan way of life, as well as the spectacular natural beauty of this region. The tour starts off at the city of Lhasa – one of the holiest cities in the world and a capital of Tibet. In Lhasa you will have the opportunity to explore its magnificent architecture, such as the Dalai Lama’s Potala Palace and blend in the atmosphere of the centuries old Buddhist monasteries. As a highlight of your stay in Lhasa is the Shoton festival. The Shoton festival is the largest and one of the most famous festivals in Tibet and gives a splendid introduction to the Tibetan culture, as it showcases the rooted tradition and culture of the Tibetan people.
From Lhasa, the journey goes on to Mount Kailash – the holiest mountain in Asia and the world. Considered the navel of the universe, where heaven and earth embrace, Mount Kailash has attracted devout pilgrims to its base for more than two thousand years. It is believed that one full parikrama (kora, circuit/circumambulation) of the sacred Mount Kailash (54km / 32 miles) erases sins of a lifetime. In this journey you will have the chance to follow the route of the pilgrims and make a complete circle around Kailash, which will make you a part of the environment for a lifetime.
